Frequently asked questions

Message Sharing

What kind of messages will I share?

You will be asked to share stories about the incredible work our students, faculty and staff are doing at TCU to make a difference in the world. In this volunteer role, you will promote the University by sharing fundraising initiatives and stories about the impact of the TCU experience. You will also be asked to share opportunities to engage with the Horned Frog family such as attending events, volunteering or giving back.

How will I know when to share a message?

You will receive an email from the Office of Loyalty Giving each time a new message is available to share. Just click the link in the email and it will take you directly to the TCU Ambassador portal. You have the option to edit the post before you send it and can choose how you wish to share the message (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, LinkedIn or email).

How often will I be asked to share messages?

The frequency of messages will vary depending on the time of the year, but you will be asked to share 1-3 messages quarterly, on average.

What time of year do you send more messages?

During TCU Gives Day in October! TCU Gives Day is our big online volunteer event. This is the day that TCU Ambassadors Lead On by sharing Gives Day content on their social media and sending emails to people in their network. During this 24 hour day of giving, you encourage your fellow Horned Frogs (and Frog Friends) to make a gift, by spreading the news of TCU Gives Day. Prior to Gives Day, we also ask that you help in getting the word out and building momentum.

What if I don't use social media?

That's ok! Ambassadors can share messages via email as well.

How do I share messages via email?

After logging in, there’s an email message section at the bottom of the page. Please feel free to copy and paste that message into your email. Please remember to include your "personal link" at the end of your message.

What is the Ambassador Toolkit?

The toolkit is where you’ll find pictures to include in your post, if you’d like to. Sometimes, we also have videos that correspond with the message. You are also welcomed to use a photo that you may have, especially if you take photos at TCU events or on campus.

How does sharing messages help TCU?

Sharing messages and stories about TCU helps us reach alumni, parents, and friends that we might have lost touch with. It also helps to promote TCU's brand to the broader public.

Is there a time that we volunteer as a group?

TCU Gives Day is the big volunteer event for the Ambassadors. During and on this day, you give back to TCU by shining the light on the Horned Frog community. We simply can’t have TCU Gives Day without the volunteer efforts of loyal TCU Ambassadors, like you!

How does the Top Ambassador/ Leaderboard work?

On the leaderboard, the left side shows your position and the right side refers to the number of clicks. Each time we share a message, it contains a link to a website. Every time someone in your network clicks on that link to read more, we are able to track that, through your personal link (see below). The more clicks you receive, the higher you climb on the leaderboard.

What is a personal link?

The personal link is how we are able to count the clicks generated by each ambassador. After logging in, there’s a “Share Now” box at the top of the ambassador site. This message will have your personal link at the end of each message. For example, your personal link may look like the following: https://spsr.me/xgWe. Your personal link is different from the next ambassador’s link. This is used for tracking purposes to help you get credit and climb higher on the leaderboard. Even if you choose to copy and paste a message on your social media platform or email, include your personal link!

How do I win a prize?

The top ambassador (#1 on the leaderboard) at the end of TCU Gives Day wins their choice of TCU prize! The top 2-10 ambassadors will all receive a separate special gift of thanks, after Gives Day.
